We humbly recognize the incredible stewardship of the original inhabitants of this land, who have taken great care of Mother Earth to maintain a state of balance and harmony for thousands of years. We also recognize the inescapable sacrifices that have led to our presence on this land today.

We understand that reconciliation is a process that is best measured by the following:

  • Collaborating meaningfully with Indigenous teachers and organizations.

  • Creating inclusive and safe spaces for healing and growth for all, especially with wild horses on Native and Indigenous lands.

  • Prioritize the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of our helpers and the horse relatives.

  • Stand in solidarity with Native people

  • Listen to Native voices to hear and learn the true story of the Native peoples of this land.

  • speak out to share these truths

  • honor this land to the best of our ability and knowledge.

The aforementioned Code of Ethics specifies, among other things:

the founding values of the association are:

  • Discover the values of sharing and respect for the cultures of those you will meet beyond prejudices and stereotypes.

  • Create the conditions for a real and authentic exchange, beyond the simple considerations of personal benefit or financial interest.

  • Help protect endangered natural environments and participate in local actions of protection associations, in particular the protection of wild horses and traditional sacred sites.

In this, the activities of the members of the association are centered on the discovery of nature and horses while adopting a responsible attitude towards the natural environment, natural resources, animals and populations.

The main points of the Ethics Charter are:

  • Respect for traditions: the members of the association undertake to respect local habits and customs, even if they do not understand or approve of them. Practical examples are given in the ethical charter below and on the association's blog at https://www.native-horse-project.com/blog .

  • Space and time are not the same when you are in another cultural space. L

  • Sharing is not giving: the members of the association undertake to keep private the information or teachings shared by other members or partners. They undertake not to copy, imitate, distribute them on the Internet or social networks, profit from them or resell them to others.

  • Photographs and films are not always welcome. The members of the association undertake to respect the indications and prohibitions in terms of photos, videos and audio recordings.

  • Alcohol and drugs are weapons used to destroy Native cultures. The members of the association do not  drink alcohol and not to use drugs.

  • Reciprocity is a core value for Native American cultures. Each member of the association undertakes to compensate the time spent by the project partners by means of free and fair donations.

  • The community enables experiential learning. In oral traditions, it is through the community that knowledge is exchanged. The participants undertake to hold a daily meeting at check-in, and to participate actively in the association's local actions.
